Artists of architecture in the far east (first part of XIXth – the beginning of XXth century)

The article is devoted to a special category of designers who had worked in the Far East since the middle of XIXth century such as artists of architecture who graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts and the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. A short excursion into the history of these institutions is given. The contents of the terms «artist of architecture», «no class artist» and «class artist» are revealed. Author gives in tabular form the historical information about the artists of architecture, who contributed much for the development of architecture and urban planning of eastern borders of the Russian Empire (Blagoveshchensk, Vladi-vostok, Nikolaevsk-on-the Amur, Port Arthur, Khabarovsk, Sakhalin island) and Manchuria (Dalian, Harbin, Shanghai).
