About the conference

The international scientific conference “Actual problems of the theory and history of regional architecture” is a new project of the Pacific National University aimed at developing interuniversity and international relations and testing key results of scientific research conducted by leading and young Russian and foreign scientists in the Russian Federation and abroad.

The architecture of individual regions is an integral part of global architecture, but at the same time, it has its own unique specific features and distinctive well-recognized features. In this regard, a comparison of the architecture of different countries and regions will contribute to a better understanding of the general development processes of regional and mainstream architecture in the context of globalization.

The event involves an open discussion of pressing issues in the theory and history of architecture of individual regions of Russia, Europe and Asia related to the search for national identity and intercultural interaction.

The international scientific conference involves an open academic discussion in the following areas:

  1. Modern problems of the theory of architecture and urban planning
  2. In search of regional identity. Architectural aspect
  3. The architects. Masters and architectural schools

Conference languages: Russian and English.

Important dates:

  • October 1, 2020 - the deadline for submission of registration forms and full papers;
  • November 1, 2020 - notice of inclusion of reports in the program;
  • November 10-12, 2020 – conference dates.

The full paper should be submitted to the organizing committee by October 1, 2020.

We accept scientific articles that strictly correspond to the conference topics and reflect the specific results of theoretical and practical research of the authors.

The article must have relevance and scientific novelty, presentation materials and texts reflecting the current state of affairs are not accepted for publication.

Only original materials that do not violate the copyrights of others are considered. It is not allowed to send previously published articles or texts sent for publication to other publications.

The article should be clearly structured and contain the following sections: introduction, relevance, literature review, task / problem statement, methodology, results, conclusions (sections may vary depending on the topic of the article).

Articles should contain:

  • title;
  • information about the authors (surname, initials; place of work, city, country; email address);
  • an annotation in the amount of 100 to 250 words;
  • a list of keywords or phrases in the amount of not more than 7;
  • bibliography.

The volume of the article: 4-6 full pages.

Articles are accepted in Russian and English, typed in a template

Section 1. Modern problems of the theory of architecture and urban planning

The section includes discussion urgent problems existing in the field of the theory of architecture and urban planning, including questions of shaping, planning organization of buildings of various typologies, the development of architectural styles and social aspects of architectural activity.

Section 2. In search of regional identity. Architectural aspect

The section includes a block of reports on developmental features and architecture specifics of different regions of Russia, Europe and Asia, formed under the influence of various historical, geopolitical, economic and other objective factors.

It is supposed to consider the problem of searching for national identity in architecture in the context of globalization, as well as the specifics of the development of vernacular architecture of different countries.

Section 3. Architects. Masters and architectural schools

The section includes reports on the architectural heritage of Russian and foreign architects - representatives of various architectural and engineering schools of Russia, China and Italy, whose creative and professional activities had an impact on the development of regional architecture.

The main platform for the conference is Pacific National University (Khabarovsk). However, the venue of the conference is not limited to this. The conference is held in conjunction with universities-partner that provide additional sites for organizing the work of the conference. At the same time, all audiences are connected by a tele-bridge that functions throughout the work of the entire conference. Thanks to this technical innovation, conference participants have the opportunity to communicate remotely with each other in on-line mode. In the course of the work of jointly organized sections, the speakers alternately perform with each of the sites. Those present at the conference have the opportunity to ask questions to each other wherever they are. In addition, the webcast of the work of the conference sections is also organized online. Anyone can become a conference attendee from anywhere in the world.
