One of the most important tasks of Russian education at the present stage is the training of highly qualified specialists for the national economy and the integration of Russian universities into the world education system.
Since 1989, PNU has taken a course towards the development of international cooperation, and at the moment, long-term international educational and scientific relations have been established with more than 120 foreign partners from 15 countries of the world. The largest number of contacts falls on the near abroad of the Far East of Russia - the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. In accordance with long-term cooperation programs, the university carries out activities for academic and student exchange, joint research, innovation and technological, educational, cultural and business projects, teaches foreign students and graduate students within its walls and sends Russian students to study abroad.
PNU actively develops foreign economic activity, contributing to the development of international cooperation projects. Pacific National University is often visited by delegations from Japan, PRC, the Republic of Korea, Germany, France, CIS, Australia, the USA, and others.
The University has been certified according to ISO 9001: 2008 for the provision of educational services.
Management of the international activities of Pacific National University works to enhance the effectiveness of international cooperation to ensure competitiveness in the market of educational services, the growth of the international authority of PNU as a highly educational and scientific center.
Within the framework of the PNU development concept, the activities of International Affairs Office are aimed at:
• improving and strengthening the reputation of the university in the international arena;
• achieving international competitiveness of the results of educational and research activities;
• increasing the number and improving the efficiency of international treaties and agreements on student learning;
• to raise funds from the international activities of the university budget.
To achieve the above objectives, the Office of the following tasks:
Implementation of the university policy on international activities, providing the necessary conditions for the formation of the image of PNU in the field of educational, scientific and technical activities at the level of foreign educational institutions of higher education;
Organization and control of federal and international inter-university programs in the university;
Development and implementation within its competence, international educational and scientific programs;
Development and implementation of university policies aimed at expanding the international activities of the university, improving the efficiency of its functioning;
Development of additional vocational training systems and services for foreign citizens, other organizations and the public;
Development of international and interregional cooperation in order to facilitate the integration of the university into the world educational space.
PNU PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
Pacific National University pays attention to networking between universities in different countries, including within the framework of various associations and unions.
Since 2009, Pacific National University has been a member of the Eurasian Association of Universities, an authoritative and influential international organization of universities. It includes national universities of all CIS countries, leading regional universities and higher educational institutions of the countries of the Eurasian space. Currently, the Eurasian Association unites universities from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
In March 2011, PNU became a member of an elite international organization: the Association of Technical Universities of Russia and China (ATURC). Currently, 63 universities of Russia and China, 54 official members and 9 observer universities are members of the Association. The main goals of ATURC are to unite the efforts of the leading technical universities of Russia and China in training highly qualified personnel for an innovative economy, to promote academic exchange of students and teachers, and to develop scientific and technical cooperation between Russia and China.
In May 2012 PNU became an observer university, and in October of the same year - a full member of the network "University of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization" (SCO), which includes 79 universities in Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan. At the School of Economics, PNU is the head (basic) university in the areas of "Ecology", "Economics" and "Regional Studies".
In September 2012, in Changchun (PRC), at the 10th Forum of Rectors of Universities of the Far East and Siberia of Russia and Northeastern Regions of China, the Association of Universities of the Far East and Siberia of Russia and Northeastern Provinces of China (AVRIC) was created. The establishment of the Association was coordinated and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of the PRC. The goals of the Association are to expand the forms of cooperation and integration in the field of science, education and culture; exchange of experience, coordination and organization of joint work in the field of educational, methodological, and research activities of universities in the Far East and Siberia of Russia and the North-Eastern provinces of China; and promoting academic exchange of students and teachers. The founding institution of the Association from Russia was Pacific National University, and from the PRC - the North-Eastern Agricultural University (Harbin). The Association includes 18 universities of the Russian Federation and 62 universities of the PRC.
In September 2013, Pacific National University became a member of the Russian-Kyrgyz Consortium of Technical Universities (RKСTU), a voluntary association of Russian and Kyrgyz universities that share the common goals of supporting and developing joint network educational programs, which includes 30 leading Russian universities and 8 leading universities Kyrgyzstan. The main goals of the Consortium are to expand ties between Russia and the Kyrgyz Republic in the educational and scientific and technical spheres, develop a system of training personnel with higher technical education for the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, and develop integration processes in the scientific and educational sphere.
In 2013 PNU became one of the founders of the Association of Asian Universities (AAU), which included universities in Armenia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand. The goal of the Association is to form a single educational space by promoting cooperation between universities and other member organizations of the Association.
In November 2013, Pacific National University joined the Russian-Chinese Association of Economic Universities (RCAEU). The main goals of the Association: creation of an educational and scientific platform for higher economic educational institutions of Russia and China, joint work on educational and scientific projects at the international level, increasing work efficiency, exchange of experience and academic exchange. Currently, the association includes 17 universities in the Russian Federation and 15 universities in the PRC. The Secretariat of the Association on the Russian side is located at the St. Petersburg State University of Economics (St. Petersburg), on the Chinese side - at the University of International Business and Economics (Beijing).
In December 2016, the Association of Russian and Japanese universities was created with the aim of expanding academic cooperation and developing academic mobility programs between Russian and Japanese universities. Today the Association includes 50 universities (25 on each side).
In 2016, the rector of Pacific National University became the Russian leader of the Education and Science working group of the Russia-Republic of Korea Dialogue Civil Society Forum, which is an open and broad forum for discussing topical public issues, as well as issues of Russian-South Korean relations. Its main task is to establish a constructive dialogue between representatives of all spheres of public life of the two countries, to develop strategic partnership between Russia and the Republic of Korea, as well as to activate public, scientific, educational and business channels of bilateral cooperation.
Within the framework of international associations, PNU employees and students regularly take part in various academic, scientific, cultural and sports events.
