THE LIVING ROOM CABINET FROM THE PERMANENT EXPOSITION OF THE WESTERN EUROPEAN ART OF THE FAR EAST ART MUSEUM

Objects of furniture stored in museums, as a rule, are not the most attractive
elements of expositions. Nevertheless, furniture - an important part of the style of the age, in
addition to its utilitarian purpose has aesthetic characteristics. The furniture made by the great
masters becomes works of art. Often they represent a whole ensemble combining different types
of crafts and arts: woodworking, carving, painting, in-cultivation, etc. The history of their creation
and existence can also be of scientific interest. The subject of our study was the living room
cabinet of an unknown French master of the late XVIII - early XIX centuries, executed in the
oriental style. During the study of the exhibit, the influence of the styles of “shinuazri” and
“japanism”, as well as the traditional art of Japan and China on the furniture art of Western Europe
was shown.
