INTENSIFICATION OF REAGENT PHOSPHATES REMOVAL FROM HOUSEHOLD AND INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATERS

The article briefly describes the role of phosphates in wastewater treatment
and emphasizes the need for their concentration controlling at wastewater treatment plants. In
addition to household phosphate pollution, the authors studied the phosphates contamination in
industrial wastewaters by the example of water from diesel locomotives cooling systems. Chemical
dephosphatization (with aluminum coagulant) method is shown in more details. In addition
to widespread coagulation treatment method, this article discusses magnetic intensification of
phosphates removal. The authors experimentally studied two possible options of this exercise:
activation of both aluminum coagulant and the model solution with using of weak magnetic
fields created by a permanent magnet and a magnetic machine. The work established that magnetic
activation of reagents, using during the dephosphatization, is about 20% less efficient than
activation of purified water. The article shows that the sludge becomes more bulking and eroded
after magnetic activation than in control samples.
