THE EXPERIENCE OF SOVIET MONUMENTAL AND DECORATIVE ART IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT
The research includes the analysis of Soviet monumental and decorative
art experience and development of the principles for its contemporary application.
At the beginning of the paper, the urgency of the research is presented and some
issues of artists, architects and designers. The main body of the paper involves the following: the analysis of trends in the development of monumental and decorative art in
the USSR and the principles of its interaction with architecture. This part of the research
contains an information about the origin, the culmination and the end of the urban environment design methods in the Soviet Union; the analysis of graffiti phenomenon as
vandalism and as art and its influence on the environment. A paper of the next chapter is
about a beginning of street art as subculture and its development as professional activity; considering possibilities of adapting the Soviet monumental and decorative art traditions to the contemporary urban environment, together with graffiti methods. This section of the research includes ways to use the experience of artists, architects and designers of the USSR through synthesis of their techniques. The conclusion emphasizes the
significance co-working of specialists from different fields related to the urban projecting.
